Machining: Vertical Panel Saw

About

Panel saws have a circular saw mounted on a track for cutting sheets, goods, and large stock wood. A stand supports the workpiece as the saw is moved through the piece to make cross cuts and rip cuts.

Location

• The vertical panel saw is in the Wood Shop on the first floor of the Engineering Design and Innovation Building (EDIB).

Safety Info

• There is a large emergency stop button at the front of the machine.
• Keep hands as far from the saw to avoid injury or accidents.
• Only wood should be used in this machine.

Tips and Tricks

• Work in twos if possible.
