4th Floor Makerspace

The 4th-floor Makerspace is an open workshop environment overlooking the West Engineering quad. Within this space, there are many tables for collaborative work with others, toolboxes full of small-scale tools and equipment, as well as the Pods. These pods each have different functions like video and presentation collaboration, meeting spaces, and an area for relaxation.

North Fabrication Lab

The North Fabrication Lab is located on the 4th floor of the EDIB. After exiting the elevator or the stairs and facing the wall of windows this room is to the far left. This room has a great view of the west quad through the windows shared with the connected meeting space. The lab is great for textile and printing work.

South Fabrication Lab

The North Fabrication Lab is located on the 4th floor of the EDIB. After exiting the elevator or the stairs and facing the wall of windows this room is to the far right. This room Is specifically for laser cutting and preparing pieces to be laser cut.

Build 2 and 3

Both Build 2 and 3 are smalle build spaces within the EDIB. Even if they are on floors, floor two and three respectively, they share a stair well in the space to be able to move from one to the other easily. These are great work spaces for classes as well as events. This space overlooks the west quad.

Metal Workshop

The Metal Shop is located in the basement of the EDIB. After entering the main door there is a staircase to the right that takes you to the basement level and the shop will be at the bottom of the stairs. Out of the elevator it is to the left. This space holds all of the Lathes, Mills, and metal assembly equipment. The lathes and mills have CNC capabilities as well as manual capabilities.

Wood Workshop

The Wood Shop is located on the first floor of the EDIB. After entering the main door the wood shop is to the left of the lobby area. This space has many machines for woodworking as well as large work tables to assemble pieces and collaborate with others.

Advanced Additive

The Additive Manufacturing Lab is on the first floor of the EDIB and can be accessed after completing Additive Manufacturing Basic II training. In this lab you can create parts with different materials and multiple colors in a single tray. Machines here also have larger build volumes than in the 4th Floor Makerspace, with the Prusa XL having the largest tray (36x36x36cm volume). Filament colors and materials can be switched out as requested by the LF teaching assistants.

Advanced Additive Manufacturing Lab

This part of the lab contains industry grade additive manufacturing equipment. Students curious to learn more about industry applicable processes and materials can sign up for Advanced Additive Manufacturing training. These machines can create parts made of carbon fiber reinforced polymers, metal materials, or multi-colored resin.

IoT/EE

The IoT/EE shop is on the first floor of the EDIB. The space has windows that look over the West Engineering Quad and the Earth and Engineering Sciences Building. In this lab, you can create circuits and work on electrical projects. There are many tools to help you wire, solder, and construct your projects.
